Knowing the Basics

Long runs are one of the methods employed in measuring cardiorespiratory endurance. This component has the ability to deliver oxygen and nutrients to the tissues, and to remove wastes, over periods of time. 

Weight-lifting exercises can be used to measure upper body strength . This component can be described to be the ability of the muscle to exert force for a brief period of time. 

Push-ups are often used to test endurance of arms and shoulder muscles. This component is the ability of a muscle, or a group of muscles, to sustain repeated contractions or to continue applying force against a fixed object. 

Sit and reach test is a good measure of flexibility of the lower back and backs of the upper legs. This is the ability to move joints and use muscles through their full range of motion.
